Assimilation
It is the dissolution of the cultural accumulations and identities of different groups within the dominant structure under the pressure of the majority or the power holder.
Discrimination
It is being prejudiced against a person or group because of their certain characteristics. This behavior can be positive or negative, but discrimination is generally understood as negative. Discrimination may be against those who adopt a political or religious preference (religious discrimination) or against a race, sexual orientation, gender, or age.
Sexism
It is the view and ideology that argues that one gender is superior to the other. On the other hand, sex discrimination is a conflictual situation that occurs when people's judgments about other people are based on gender rather than personal values, and sometimes includes hatred.
Multiculturalism
This word describes a society where many different cultures live together. In a multicultural society, all cultures must respect each other.
Integration
The meaning of this word, which is used to describe a person's integration with a society, is unity and harmony.
Equality of Opportunity
Education, employment, promotion, fundamental rights, resource distribution and other areas are equally accessible to all citizens, regardless of age, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, political opinion and other individual characteristics irrespective of ability, performance and work capacity.
Temporary Protection Status
According to Article 91 of the YUKK; It refers to the protection developed to find urgent solutions to meet the international protection needs of foreigners who come to the borders of the Republic of Türkiye en masse and whose international protection demand cannot be evaluated individually.
Migration
It is the act of going to another settlement or another country, by leaving the settlement where individuals or communities are located, due to political, social or economic reasons.
Immigrant
Apart from the reasons in the definition of a refugee, it is a person who voluntarily leaves his country, mostly for economic reasons, and settles in another country with the knowledge and permission of the authorities of that country. According to the Settlement Law No. 5543, immigrants are people of Turkish descent and Turkish culture who come to Türkiye from abroad with the intention of settling.

Homophobia
Hatred, prejudice, dislike or discrimination against homosexuals or homosexuality.
Racism
It is the tendency to consider one's own race superior to other races and to base one's political attitude on this.
Secondary Protection
It is the status of who cannot be described as refugees or conditional refugees, but who will be:

a) sentenced to the death penalty or executed,

b) subjected to torture, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment,

c) faced with serious personal threats due to indiscriminate acts of violence in situations of international or national armed conflict.
It is granted to foreigner or stateless people who cannot benefit from the protection of their country of origin or residence or who does not want to benefit from it due to the threat in question.


Islamophobia
It literally means "fear of Islam". It means hatred, discrimination, hostility and grudge against the religion of Islam or Muslims.
Asylum
The right of sanctuary or asylum is a legal and political right that some countries grant to people who apply in accordance with predetermined conditions. Mass influx requests can be made in situations such as civil war, war, conflict, massacre or genocide in a country.
Refugee
A person who leaves his country and requests asylum in another country, feeling threatened or pressured due to language, religion, race, ethnicity, political opinion or social position, and whose request is accepted by the country to which he applied. Türkiye signed the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees in 1951, but only accepts Europeans as refugees. Non-Europeans are not given refugee status, and they are only temporarily hosted in our country.
Hate Speech
Prejudice-based, negative and offensive statements targeting a person or group's religion, language, ethnic identity, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation.
Hate Crime
These are crimes that are committed against a person or group for reasons that may cause prejudice, such as race, language, religion, gender and sexual orientation, and are usually violent.
Asylum Seeker
A person who feels threatened or under pressure due to language, religion, race, ethnic origin, political opinion or social position and leaves his country and seeks asylum in another country, and this request is under investigation by the authorities of the country to which he/she applied. The main purpose of the asylum seeker is not to stay in Türkiye, but to pass through Türkiye to a safe third country. According to the 3rd article of the Settlement Law, "Those who take refuge in Türkiye not for the purpose of settling but for temporary residence out of necessity are called asylum seekers".

It is the process of establishing the necessary values, relationships and institutions for the creation of an equal and dynamic society in which all individuals, understand their rights and responsibilities equally and fully with other members of the society regardless of race, gender, language and religion and contribute to the society accordingly.

It is the closer bonds, mutual aid and cooperation between people living in a society.
Social Exclusion
It is the inability to fully or partially access the civil, political, economic and social rights that enable the individual to integrate with society by some individuals and social groups. Social exclusion may occur due to reasons such as unemployment, low-paid work, poverty, income distribution imbalance, and insufficient social protection. Excluded people are not always poor people. For example, even if minorities, immigrants and women are not poor, they may be excluded from society through various mechanisms and therefore cannot access the above-mentioned rights.

It is to implement sustainable and expandable solutions that include a new product or service, process or institutional structure proposal for the solution of a social problem with entrepreneurial qualities, but without profit.
Social Policy
It is a set of protective, empowering, social justice and equality-providing services developed for all individuals living in a country, especially those in need of care and protection.
Social Cohesion
It is the process of creating a sense of recognition, belonging, inclusion and legitimacy in all social groups of a society. Reducing the wealth and income gaps can be achieved by not allowing the marginalization of different segments of society, and by developing the understanding that people face the same difficulties as other members of the society and are part of the same community.
Conditional Refugee
It refers to the status granted to a foreigner who is outside the country of which he/she is a citizen because he is justifiably afraid that they will be persecuted because of their race, religion, nationality, membership of a certain social group or political opinions due to events occurring outside European countries and cannot benefit from the protection of this country or does not want to benefit due to this fear, or a stateless person who is outside the country of residence as a result of such events, cannot return there or does not want to return due to this fear.
Reverse Discrimination
It is a term used to describe discriminatory policies and actions that benefit non-dominant groups rather than historically and sociopolitically dominant groups.
Social/ Societal Pressure
It is the individual's feeling of pressure from the people around him in terms of gaze, stance, attitude and behavior due to some of their characteristics such as their innate characteristics, their behaviors in accordance with the traditions and customs of their culture, their socio-economic positions in society and their preferences.
International Protection Law
The Foreigners and International Protection Law No. 6458 regulates the entry and residence procedures of foreigners into Türkiye, as well as the conditions of international protection status. In this context, the procedures and principles that must be followed when foreigners request protection from Türkiye, both within the scope of international protection and temporary protection, are specified in this law. According to Law No. 6458, refugees, conditional refugees and foreigners seeking subsidiary protection can benefit from international protection.
