Harmony Immigration Debates
Should there be a global hate speech law in the age of migration?

20 June 2022 Monday
19.00 - 21.00

Debate is a persuasive game in which speakers compete with their knowledge on various topics, their oratory and communication skills, as well as their ability to think quickly and make decisions.

In British Parliamentary style debate matches, there are a total of 8 participants divided into four teams, each consisting of two individuals. Debate topics are chosen from a wide range of fields, from economy to women's rights, from football to the European Union, and both the topic
and the side on which the team will compete are given 15 minutes before the debate begins.

In the first Harmony Migration Debates, we will hold a debate match that focuses on hate speech and anti-immigrant/refugee sentiments. This match will feature successful debaters from Turkey, and we will receive feedback and briefings from academics and civil society members active in the field. The program will take place at the Bağlarbaşı Cultural Center in collobration with the Debate and Oratory Association.
