Social Harmony Lab is a training program organized for young people who want to work in these fields in order to combat hate speech and produce projects on discrimination and harmonization in Türkiye.
According to the 2019 Hate Speech Report published by the Hrant Dink Foundation, 5515 hate speeches directed at 80 different groups were in the media in one year in Türkiye. According to different reports and academic studies, hate speech and discrimination against immigrants, refugees, international nationals and ethnic groups are increasing day by day in politics and social life. In the fight against discrimination, civil society has a great responsibility as well as what the state must do. As the Harmony Project, we have opened a training program for young people who want to fight hate speech in Türkiye, produce projects on discrimination and harmony, and work in these areas.
60 people from different ethnicities living in Türkiye, who are between the ages of 18-30 and enrolled in undergraduate and graduate education, will be accepted to this program. Participants will receive training on campaign management, budget creation, social leadership, social entrepreneurship, effective public speaking, discrimination, and compliance from expert civil society managers and academics.
At the end of the program, participants are expected to prepare projects to improve the quality of life of discriminated ethnic groups together with their mentors. It is aimed to implement successful projects by providing financial support.
